I implore you to watch it. It has even helped me, as the district superintendent, to better understand the proposals, and I hope it will help you feel informed as well.

A few updates to share:
As was promised through our Fun Run fundraising, I will be spending the night on the roof tomorrow (Thursday). This actually may be one of the last times this occurs in Oxford as this district is moving away from this incentive. However, since the incentive was already embedded in our fundraising process this year, we were given permission to go through with this. PTO will be helping me live stream a story to read over their Facebook page tomorrow night. Check out their page for the time and details.
We celebrated our first Students of the Month last Friday. We had about 20 students and 30 parents honored, and will continue with this process each month. Parents of the honorees jointed us for a continental breakfast to help celebrate. Congratulations to those students and families.
Halloween Parade Details:
Date: Oct 31, 2025
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Route: The parade will start in the parking lot, head down Elmwood to Division, up Division along the Polly Ann Trail and back to the school.
Weather: It is usually cold-plan costumes accordingly!
Road Closure: The Oakland County Sheriff will be closing down Elmwood Street from the Polly Ann Trail to the school prior to the parade. Parents should plan on arriving at their viewing spots prior to the start or they will not be able to drive down Elmwood. There is additional parking at the Polly Ann Trail Head behind the mill.
Parents will not be joining us in the building before or after this event.
Cooper Standard will have volunteers passing out candy in front of their parking lot as the students turn up Division Street.

The State of Michigan has adopted a new state budget that includes continued funding for free breakfast and lunch for all students this school year.
We still encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application each year. The information provided through these applications helps determine eligibility for various supports and funding that benefit both families and schools.
Benefits of Completing the Application include:
Free or Reduced-Price Meals: Direct financial assistance to families if the universal free meal program is not renewed in the future.
Discounts on Educational Activities: Possible cost reductions for AP exams, field trips, and after-school programs.
Other Student and Household Support: Access to programs that provide food assistance, school supplies, and holiday support.
Increased Funding for Schools: Additional funding through programs such as Title I, which supports all students.
Eligibility for Other Programs: The application can help determine eligibility for other state and federally funded programs.
Families can complete the application online or request a paper copy from their school office.

A quick reminder: our Suzuki Strings partnership begins Monday, September 29. Open to Oxford students in grades 1–5 interested in learning violin. Classes meet two days per week from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. at Lakeville Elementary. Transportation from Lakeville to each elementary school is provided before the school day.

We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year, and I’m excited to share some important information with you. On November 4, two Oxford Community Schools proposals will appear on the ballot. These proposals help support our students, classrooms, and school facilities.
Non-Homestead Operating Millage – Helps fund day-to-day operations, including classrooms, programs, and instruction. This millage applies only to non-homestead properties (commercial, rental, and second homes) and does not increase taxes for primary homeowners.
Sinking Fund Millage – Provides funding for building maintenance, safety upgrades, and facility improvements that benefit students and the community. View this flyer outlining tentative projects planned for the first year of the Sinking Fund at our school.

Oxford Community Schools is pleased to partner with Suzuki Strings again this year. This opportunity is open to any Oxford Schools' student in Grade 1 through 5 who would like to learn to play the violin. Classes are offered two days per week from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Lakeville Elementary. Transportation is provided from Lakeville to each elementary school before the start of the school day. Good Morning Leonard Families,
Starting today, the following procedure will be in place when in need of an end of the day pickup change for your student. This could include picking up your student instead of them taking the bus, or wanting to inform us and your student that they will be going home with a different driver.
Please call the front office to inform them of your situation.
The front office will collect messages throughout the day.
In the 3pm hour, the front office will distribute messages to all staff who need to know.
We will be sure your student gets to the right place.

A few other reminders:
Tomorrow, the 16th is picture day.
Thursday the 18th is an early release day.
Please continue following our drop off and pickup procedures each morning and afternoon. This includes not walking to and from the building itself to pick up your child and walking through carpool traffic.

Thanks so much to those of you who warmly welcomed me upon my arrival this past week. I also appreciate all of your patience and understanding with our new arrival and dismissal procedures.
The morning is going very smoothly. The afternoon is going as planned, as we have consistently had every car gone within 10 minutes of dismissal which is our goal. We are continuing to work on efficiency on our end by solidifying staff tasks, among other things.
Please (!!) continue adhering to our procedures, including not parking in the front lot and walking up to pick up your student, then walking back to the lot. One of several reasons for these changes was to avoid that foot traffic in the driveway and parking lot while cars are coming and going. Thank you!! We look forward to another great week with your children!!

Welcome back to another exciting school year! We hope your summer has been restful and filled with great memories. As we prepare for a strong start to the 2025–2026 academic year, we are excited to once again gather as a community to support our students both in the classroom and beyond, including under the Friday night lights!
Oxford High School’s football games have long been a point of pride and tradition in our community. To ensure this experience continues to be safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all, we are implementing a few important changes this season. These updates are based on feedback from families, staff, and public safety partners, and align with best practices being adopted across the region.
Updates and Reminders for the 2025-2026 School Year:
No Re-Entry to the Stadium.
All Oxford High School students must have a school ID for entry. Showing PowerSchool schedule is allowed.
Expect to go through the Evolv weapons detection system for entry.
Students: No bags of any kind will be allowed for students.
No outside footballs or sporting equipment.
Middle School and Elementary aged children are to be accompanied, supervised by, and in the vicinity of an adult.
Our ticket workers will not allow unsupervised students to enter into the stadium.
If there are issues with accompanied students gathering and causing unsafe issues, parents will be contacted and the students will be barred for the rest of the season.
Adults: No backpacks or large bags. Small purses, diaper bags, and medical bags are permissible and are subject to search.
No outside food or beverages are allowed into the stadium. This includes empty or filled bottles, cups, thermos containers, coolers, mugs, etc.
Oxford Community Schools prohibits the possession and/or use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and weapons while on school property and at any district related event. Please see Policies 3102.01 and 3408.01 for more information.
Alcohol is strictly prohibited; anyone who attempts to bring alcohol and/or is visibly under the influence of any substance will be removed for the rest of the season.
All school rules and district policies are in effect and will be enforced for this event.
